The Big 12's Kansas State Wildcats meet the Big Ten's Wisconsin Badgers tonight in a Southeast Region showdown at the McKale Center in Tucson, Arizona. This evening's contest is slated for a 8:40pm ET on TNT. College Basketball Lines have Wisconsin, the third place finisher in the Big Ten, listed as a -3.5 against the spread NCAA basketball picks favorite. The game total is presently set at 125.
Kansas State closed out the regular season with six straight wins, but it fell in the second round of the Big 12 Tournament
to Colorado. The Wildcats put that miserable outing behind them on Thursday with a 73-68 win against WAC Champion Utah State.
Frank Martin's squad owned an 11 point lead at the break, but scrappy the Aggies rallied in the second frame behind a plethora of late buckets. Jacob Pullen and company managed to keep them at arm's length, though, and advance to the second round for the third time in the last four years.
Pullen, who had the flu earlier in the week, scored a team high 22 points while Curtis Kelly added 15 points and six rebounds in the win.
Wisconsin, which has been ousted in the second round of the NCAA's the past two seasons, extended its first round win streak to five on Thursday with a 72-58 victory. The Badgers top two scorers, Jon Leuer and Jordan Taylor, led the charge against the 13th seeded Belmont Bears as the pair combined for 43 points, nine rebounds, and seven assists.
As a team Wisconsin, which ranks 43rd nationally in three point percentage, dropped 12 of its 22 attempts from beyond the arc.
Tonight's game figures to be a low scoring affair as each team plays solid defense and grinds as many seconds as possible on each offensive possession. The matchup between Pullen and Taylor is an excellent one, and whichever players gets the better of things will probably lead his team to victory.
