The Missouri Tigers and the Cornell Big Red will meet today at the Taco Bell Arena in Boise, Idaho in opening round West Region play. The game is set to tip off at 3:00pm ET and will be televised live on CBS. If the three seeded Tigers can get past their Ivy League opposition, they will take on either Marquette or Utah State in the second round. Missouri surprised a good many pundits with their performance in the Big 12 this season. The Tigers challenged for the conference title right until the conclusion of regular season play, but ended up in third place with a 12-4 league record. Mizzou improved their overall mark to 28-6 after winning the Big 12 championship last week. Mike Anderson's squad beat the Baylor Bears 73-60 to capture their first Big 12 tournament crown. Missouri, winners of 15 of their last 18, averaged 81.1 points per game while allowing their competition 66.5 per game. The Tigers, who went 5-1 in neutral site games, are led by forwards DeMarre Carroll and Leo Lyons. The frontcourt mates averaged a combined 31 points, 13.3 rebounds, and 4 assists per game. Cornell took first place in the Ivy League for the second season in a row, going 11-3 versus conference teams and 21-9 overall. The Big Red also captured the Ivy League tournament title by beating Princeton 60-51 to garner their second straight NCAA Tournament birth. The Big Red, who have won four of their last five games, averaged 74.1 points per game this year. They had three starters average double figures in scoring, led by forward Ryan Wittman at 18.5 per game.
