Washington vs North Carolina 2011 NCAA Bracket Predictions

The seventh seeded Washington Huskies take on the East Region's No. 2 seed, North Carolina, this afternoon for the right to play in next weekend's regional semifinal. Today's game is scheduled to tip off at 12:15pm ET at the Time Warner Cable Arena in Charlotte, North Carolina; coverage will be provided by CBS. The Huskies, which have reached the regional semifinal in three of their last four NCAA Tournament appearances, extended their current run to four games on Friday by beating Georgia 68-65.

North Carolina recovered from its ACC Championship Game loss to Duke by thumping the 15th seeded Long Island Blackbirds 102-87. The Tar Heels enjoyed a huge first half lead, but Long Island closed it to 11 before the half. UNC kept the scrappy bunch at a distance the entire second frame, but they needed 49 post-break points to do it.

The Blackbirds only shot 36.5 percent for the game but they managed to get off 85 shot attempts, including 31 three pointers. The Tar Heels connected at a 50.7 percent clip on 67 field goal attempts. John Henson, Harrison Barnes, and Tyler Zeller carried the bulk of the scoring load as the trio combined for 84 of the team's 102 points.

Henson and Barnes both produced double doubles, Henson posting 28 points and 11 boards while Barnes tallied 24 points and 16 rebounds.

Since Roy Williams took over as UNC's head coach, the Tar Heels are 4-1 in second round play, winning by an average of 21.5 points per game.
