Texas A&M vs UConn are set to do battle today in the second round of West Region 2009 NCAA Tournament action. The tip off between the two schools is set for 3:35pm ET at the Wachovia Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The top seeded Huskies, who were without Head Coach Jim Calhoun in their first round win, will play either Purdue or Washington if they came dispatch the Aggies this afternoon. The Huskies snapped a two game skid by pounding the Mocs 103-47 and improved their overall record to an impressive 28-4. They also ran their neutral site tally to 5-1 on the year. UConn shot 52.1 percent from the field as a team and they outrebounded the Mocs 57 to 33. Five Huskies scored in double figures with three cresting the 20 point mark. Forward Stanley Robinson led the team with 24 points while Hasheem Thabeet and Jeff Adrien combined for 33 points and 29 rebounds. Tennessee-Chattanooga hit just 17 of their 66 field goal attempts against UConn's defense. Texas A&M jumped on the BYU Cougars early and then cruised to an easy 79-66 opening round win. The victory was the Aggies 24th of the season and their seventh in their last eight games. It was just A&M's third neutral site game this year; they are now 2-1 in those contests. The Aggies had their way against the Cougars defense, connecting on 57.7 percent of their field goals and getting five players into double figures in scoring. Junior forward Bryan Davis, the team's third leading scorer at 10.7 per game, did most of the damage, pouring in 21 points and grabbing nine rebounds.
