Cornell scored a big upset on Friday night, stomping Temple 78-65 to advance to today's second round of action. The 
victory was the eighth in a row for the Big Red and signaled to the rest of the East bracket that they should not be taken lightly.
Cornell got 20 points and five rebounds from forward Ryan Wittman (4-of-6 from three point range) and 21 points and seven assists for guard Louis Dale in dispatching the Owls. The Big Red hit 56.3 percent from the field as a team and 15-of-19 from the free throw line. Temple went to the line just nine times and hit six of those attempts once there.
It was anything but pretty, but Wisconsin squeaked out a 53-49 win over the Wofford Terriers on Friday to advance to the round of 32. The Badgers hit just 37 percent of their field goal attempts (1-of-9 from beyond the arc) and were out-rebounded by Wofford 35 to 29. However, Bo Ryan's squad hit six more free throws than did the Terriers, which proved to be the difference in the ball game.
Forward Jon Leuer led Wisconsin with 20 points and eight rebounds while star guard Trevon Hughes added 19 points on 6-of-13 shooting.
Wisconsin, which has allowed teams to 34 percent from three point range on the year, will need to play tight perimeter defense in order to disrupt the Big Red's outside prowess. The Badgers defense should be the difference here, knocking down Cornell's 56 shooting percentage from game one.
