Ohio State captured its eighth consecutive win on Friday night with a 68-51 beating of UC-Santa Barbara. The Buckeyes got
the easy win despite an off shooting night from star forward Evan Turner, who connected on just two of his 13 shot attempts for a total of nine points. Turner still had a big game, though, grabbing 10 rebounds and dishing out five assists. Filling Turner's scoring void was guard John Diebler, who hit 7-of-12 shots from beyond the arc in route to a game high 23 points.
Defensively Ohio State dominated the Guachos, holding them to 32.3 percent field goal shooting. They also controlled the paint, blocking 12 shots, including eight by forward Dallas Lauderdale.
Georgia Tech got past seven seed Oklahoma State on Friday, scoring a 64-59 win at the expense of the Cowboys. Only two Tech players reached double figures in the win, led by forward Gani Lawal's 14. However, the Yellow Jackets were a near perfect 24-of-25 from the charity stripe and they outrebounded Travis Ford's squad 28 to 17.
Tech's size also disrupted star guard James Anderson, who had just 11 points on 3-of-12 shooting (0-of-6 from three point range). Anderson led the Big 12 in scoring this season with a 22.6 point per game average.
This game should be a defensive struggle from the opening tip, look for the score to go under the posted total of 134.
