upset of Oliver Purnell's squad. The Tigers also got things done on the offensive end, hitting 52 percent of their field goal attempts and 21 of their 29 free throw shots to snap a two game losing streak.
Sophomore guard Kim English and senior forward Keith Ramsey combined to score 40 points. Ramsey also had eight rebounds (four offensive), four assists, and three steals. English connected on 4-of-7 from downtown, helping to negate and 11 rebound advantage for Clemson.
West Virginia turned in a solid effort against 15 seed Morgan State on Friday, besting the Bears 77-50 to advance to the second round of play. The Mountaineers leading scorer, forward Da'Sean Butler, had just nine points on 4-of-11 shooting. Sophomore Devin Ebanks made up for Butler's off night, though, as he dropped in 16 points and snagged 13 boards (six offensive).
West Virginia also secured a 40 to 33 rebound edge and hit 25-of-31 from the charity stripe to make up for a 41 percent night from the floor.
The Mountaineers, which typically protect the ball well (11.6 turnovers per game), will need to take extra precaution against the Tigers as Mizzou leads the country in forced turnovers. Missouri will need to keep the rebounding battle fairly close; the only way they make up for a huge disparity there is by forcing mistakes and knocking down shots from mid-range and beyond the arc. They are usually consistent at causes opponent errors, they are not, however, a consistently good shooting team. Prediction: Missouri shocks West Virginia, makes it to the Sweet 16 for the second straight year.
