Six seed Xavier reached the Sweet Sixteen for the fourth time in the last six years (third straight) by beating the 
Pittsburgh Panthers 71-68 last weekend. The Musketeers hit a solid 48 percent of its field goal attempts, but went a superb 8-of-16 from long range. The Panthers hit 39 percent and 33 percent, respectively.
Xavier, which is 2-1 in its last three Regional Semifinal appearances, again relied on Jordan Crawford, who scored 28 points against first round foe Minnesota, offensively. Crawford had 27 points against Pitt on 9-of-15 shooting.
Kansas State won for the fourth time in its last five games, beating seven seed BYU 84-72 in last weekend's second round of Tournament play. The Wildcats defense held the sharp shooting Cougars to 39 percent field goal shooting while they themselves hit 11-of-27 from beyond the arc and 27-of-30 from the free throw line.
Junior guard Jacob Pullen played an amazing game, both offensively and defensively, recording four steals and 34 points (8-of-15 field goals, 7-of-12 three pointers, 11-of-11 free throws).
This evening's game is the second meeting of the season between these two teams. The Musketeers visited Manhattan, Kansas in early December and fell to the Wildcats 56-71.
