West Virginia Mountaineers Final Four Lines 2010: West Virginia reached the National Semifinals for just the second time in school history over the weekend, beating the one seed Kentucky 73-66 in the East Regional Final. West Virginia won its 10th consecutive game and improved to 10-0 in neutral site play on Sunday with their win over the
Wildcats. Prior to ousting Kentucky, the Moutaineers overcame Morgan State, Missouri, and Washington by an average of 17 points per game. Like their upcoming opponent, Duke, West Virginia is a defensive team and the numbers from its four Tournament games reflect that fact.
The Mountaineers have not allowed a single team to score 70 points thus far, limiting their competition to an average 57.8 points per game on 34 percent field goal shooting. Teams have also been abysmal against Bob Huggins' troops from beyond the arc, shooting just 22.1 percent against them. West Virginia, which won the Big East Tournament prior to the start NCAA Tournament, out-rebounded their first three Tournament opponents by an average of 5.6 boards per game. Kentucky, however, got the better of them on the glass 45 to 34 in Sunday's game.
Forward Da'Sean Butler has been the biggest offensive star for the Mountaineers in their March Madness run, averaging 17.3 points per game (6.8 rebounds). Kevin Jones aided his teammate considerably in beating the Bears and Huskies, scoring 17 and 18 points against those two teams, respectively.
West Virginia has not played in a national semifinal game since 1959 when it beat to Louisville 94-79.
