Prior to beating the Volunteers, the Spartans overcame New Mexico State, Maryland, and Northern Iowa by a combined 12 points. Michigan State's appearance at Lucas Oil Stadium tomorrow marks the school's sixth Final Four under Head Coach Tom Izzo. The Spartans are 2-3 in their last five National Semifinal games, beating Connecticut last year and Wisconsin in 2000.
Butler earned a trip to its first ever Final Four by beating two seed Kansas State 63-56 in the West Region Final last weekend. The Bulldogs got 22 points and nine boards from forward Gordon Hayward and on defense they held the Wildcats to 38.6 percent from the field. Butler also outrebounded Kansas State 37 to 26.
The Bulldogs beat UTEP, Murray State, and Syracuse before getting past the Wildcats. Until this year's Tournament run, the Bulldogs had never made it past the Regional Semifinals.
