2010 Final Four Predictions: This year's Final Four participants are not exactly known for their offensive prowess; though, they do have enough firepower to garner the respect of their opposition. However, out of all the National Semifinal participants, Duke would appear to have the most scoring options. As such, 2010 Final Four Predictions at Bodog.com have the Blue Devils favored, at 2 to 1 odds, to be the highest scoring team in the 2010 NCAA Mens Basketball Final Four Round.
Duke possesses the highest scoring average of the four teams remaining in the NCAA Tournament, posting 77.4 per game
on the season. That number has been reduced to 72.3 in the Blue Devils Tournament run as they scored 73 against Arkansas-Pine Bluff, 68 against California, 70 against Purdue, and 78 against Baylor. And, if anything is certain, it is the fact that West Virginia will play some hard-nosed defense against the Dukies tonight.
The Mountaineers have given up an average of 63.1 points per game on the season, but they have dropped that total to 57.8 in the Tournament. Only Kentucky crested 60 points against Bob Huggins' squad as the Wildcats scored 66 in last weekend's Regional Final.
That said, West Virginia, which is listed at 5 to 2 odds to be the highest scoring team in the Final Four, will have similar issues with Duke. The Blue Devils are giving up an average of 61.1 points per game this year and they held their first three Tournament opponents to a meager 154 points (51.3 points per game).
Butler, which has the lowest scoring average of all the Final Four teams (69.4 ppg), has topped 70 points just one time in the NCAA Tournament. Despite the Bulldogs 64.3 March Madness average, they are listed ahead of Michigan State at 11 to 4 odds. The Spartans are averaging 72.4 per game on the season and 71 per contest in the Tournament, but they scored just 59 points against their most defensive oriented opponent (Northern Iowa).
Michigan State (3 to 1 odds) figures to have trouble finding the basket against Butler because every team does. The Bulldogs have limited their four Tournament victims to an average of 56.5 points per game and not a single one of them reached the 60 point mark.
