The UConn Huskies and the Michigan State Spartans will set all things Final Four in motion tonight with a skirmish at Ford Field in Detroit, Michigan. The first game of the Final Four 2009 is set to tip off at 6:07pm ET and will be broadcast live on CBS. Michigan State vs Connecticut Final Four 2009 at Sportsbook.com has the Huskies listed as a -4 against the spread favorite in this evening's game. Michigan State, who captured the Big 10 regular season title, has had an impressive run to the Final Four. The Spartans beat Robert Morris, USC, Kansas, and top seeded Louisville in route to Tom Izzo's fifth Final Four appearance as a head coach. They are now 30-6 overall and 9-3 in neutral site games. Their victory over the heavily favored Cardinals was their fourth in a row and 10th in their last 11 games. The Spartans frustrated Louisville seemingly at every turn, forcing them into bad decisions or poor shots almost the entire game. The Cardinals shot a miserable 38.3 percent for the contest and were outrebounded by Michigan State 27 to 35. Tom Izzo's troops also dished out 19 assists as a team. Center Goran Suton and guard Kalin Lucas were instrumental in the 64-52 win, combining for 29 points, 13 rebounds, and nine assists. Connecticut reached the Final Four via their run through the West Region, topping Tennessee-Chattanooga, Texas A&M, Purdue, and Missouri. The Huskies averaged 87.3 points per game in their four tournament victories and won by an average of 25.25 points per contest. They are now 31-4 overall and 8-1 in neutral site action heading into this evening's confrontation with the Spartans. The Huskies had a difficult time with the Tigers, despite holding Mizzou to 27.8 percent from beyond the arc. They outrebounded Mike Anderson's squad 45 to 26 as well, but Missouri's pressure forced them into 17 turnovers. Several players stepped up big for UConn in the 82-75 win, including Stanley Robinson (13 points, six rebounds, four blocks) and Jeff Adrien (12 points, 10 rebounds), but freshman point guard Kemba Walker proved to be the difference. Walker penetrated his way to 23 points and five assists while also reeling in five rebounds.
