Point-Spreads.com is issuing a Betting Odds Alert for the first 2009 Final Four match-up between Michigan State vs UConn. The winner of this battle will go on to play the winner of the evening game between Villanova Wildcats vs North Carolina Tar Heels for the 2009 NCAA Basketball National Championship Title. The odds makers at Sportsbook.com have the UConn Huskies -4.5 point favorites against the Michigan State Spartans with the total set at 133.5 points.
"This game should be a lower scoring affair as both teams like to work out of a half-court set," stated Point-Spreads.com Final Four Expert Matt Foust when asked to comment on the Michigan State vs UConn betting odds. "The Huskies definitely have the advantage inside with Hasheem Thabeet, Stanley Robinson, and Jeff Adrien, but it is probably a wash between Spartans guard Kalin Lucas and the Huskies A.J. Price. Michigan State center Goran Suton could pose an interesting challenge to the Huskies, though, as his ability to shoot from the perimemter could help draw Thabeet out of the paint in man-to-man situations. If UConn chooses to play a zone defense, Suton should have little trouble shooting over the Huskies perimeter run outs."

"Well, I think that is a key match-up" stated Michigan State Spartans head coach Tom Izzo at his Final Four Press Conference. "Even though they have tremendous size up front, some very tough, good players up there, great rebounders. But I still think Price is the guy who stirs the drink. He's had an incredible tournament. He's making shots off the dribble even more. He's getting to the basket. If he gets to the basket, then we have to help with our big guys. It's going to be a dunkathon in there. We have to keep him in front of us, out of the paint. Easier said than done."
"I still think Price," finished Tom Izzo. "Both from a scoring standpoint and from a penetration and cause-problem standpoint, is as good a player as we faced at that position now, and we've faced some good ones."
“Connecticut Huskies head coach Jim Calhoun is undefeated in the Final Four,” stated Point-Spreads.com Publisher Thomas Jensen when asked to comment on the Michigan State vs UConn betting odds. “Calhoun has guided the Huskies on to win national titles both 1999 and 2004. Early sports odds betting action on the under 135 total points by professional sports bettors drove the line down to 133.5 points. Michigan State +4 points is the play but I think Connecticut will win in a close one.”
