Villanova vs North Carolina Final Four 2009 at Bodoglife.com has the Tar Heels listed as a -7 against the spread favorite to win this evening's semi-final contest.

North Carolina has been extremely impressive in their record 19th trip to the Final Four. The Tar Heels overcame Radford, LSU, Gonzaga, and Oklahoma to make it to Detroit, winning by an average of 22.5 points per game. The regular season ACC Champions now possess a 32-4 record and an 8-1 mark in neutral site play.

UNC earned a tilt with Villanova tonight by beating the second seeded Oklahoma Sooners 72-60 in the South Region final last Sunday. The Tar Heels hit 51 percent of their field goal attempts and 93.8 percent of their free throws in the big win. They also limited Oklahoma to just 10.5 percent from beyond the arc. Point guard Ty Lawson did most of the damage for North Carolina, scoring 19 points while grabbing five rebounds and handing out five assists.

Villanova fought past a tough group of East Region opponents to make their fifth Final Four showing, beating American, UCLA, Duke, and conference rival Pittsburgh. The three seeded Wildcats improved their overall mark to 30-7 with their tournament run and they are now 8-2 in neutral site games. Jay Wright's squad has won 10 of their last 12 games entering tonight's clash with the Heels.

The Wildcats upset the top seeded Panthers last weekend 78-76 in Boston to secure an appearance in the Motor City. Villanova hit 44.6 percent from the field, but won the game largely due to their prowess at the charity stripe. The Cats were nearly perfect from the line, connecting on 22 of their 23 attempts.

Guard Scottie Reynolds led Villanova to the win, scoring 15 points, two of which came on a game winning layup in the final seconds of regulation. Forward Dante Cunningham also contributed with 14 points and five rebounds.
