DePaul Blue demons College Baskeball PredictionsFind out if DePaul can rebound from losing over 40 percent of its scoring to make the NCAA Tournament in our 2007 DePaul Blue Demons predictions and season preview.  SportsBetting.com has Depaul at 200 to 1 odds to win the NCAA College Basketball Championship .

With Wilson Chandler and Sammy Mejia gone, the Demons will have their work cut out for themselves.  These two took on every difficult defensive assignment, took all the big shots, and hit the boards hard for DePaul last season.  With these guys gone, DePaul will turn to an uptempo style to use speed to their advantage.

Draelon Burns is DePaul’s top returning scorer by a mile.  He averaged 11.6 points per game last season and the next closest returning scorer averaged just 6.6 points per game.  Burns is an offensive juggernaut who could end up a first team All-Big East selection in a starring role this season.

Mac Koshwal, a 6’10’’ big, can do it all in the post.  He’s very active for his size and won’t slow the Demons down one bit in their uptempo game.  The 6’9’’ Wesley Green will play center for the Demons.  The big man has a very soft touch around the basket.

Dar Tucker will join Burns in the backcourt.  DePaul has high hopes for the freshman.  Karron Clarke needs a bounce back year and we anticipate he will provide that.  His scoring and rebounded averaged dipped last season as DePaul’s two stars did it all.  People have already forgotten that he averaged 10 points and 5.2 boards per game as a sophomore.  Without a true point guard, the Demons will struggle at times, especially in tight games.  Jabari Currie or Will Walker will likely lead the team, but neither is exceptional and Wainwright has expressed wanting to move Currie off the ball.  With the surplus of guards that DePaul has, don’t be surprised is you see a 4 guard look this season.

Losing over 40 percent of its offense is going to be too much for DePaul to overcome this soon.  DePaul will push for another 20-win season, but it’ll likely come up short.  The fact that the Big East will be better won’t help the Demons either.  If Wainwright can get his troops pushing the ball, DePaul could surprise some teams this season.  He’s going to need to find the right guy to play the point if he wants this style of play to succeed.

Jeff Alexander is your answer for Big East betting this season.  Last year, he made a mint on the Big East Conference and you can expect Jeff to find success betting the Big East again this year.
