Michigan State vs North Carolina College Basketball Picks: The Michigan State Spartans will take on the North Carolina Tar Heels tonight in a rematch of this year's National Championship game. The landscape has changed for both squads coming into this ball game, but the two combatants still find themselves ranked in the top 10. This evening's ACC-Big 10 Challenge contest is set to tip-off at 9:00pm ET at the Dean E. Smith center in Chapel Hill, North Carolina; it will be broadcast live on ESPN. College Basketball Picks at online bookmaker BetUS.com have the Tar Heels listed as a -2 against the spread home favorite.

The Spartans enter tonight's game with a 5-1 record after dispatching the Massachusetts Minutemen by a score of 106-68 Michigan State vs North Carolina College Basketball Pickson Saturday night. The easy win came on the heels of their first loss as the team fell to the Florida Gators 77-74 last Friday. Five Spartans finished in double figures against UMass, but junior guard Chris Allen came off the bench to lead the team with 18 points. Allen and star point guard Kalin Lucas combined to go 8-for-12 from beyond the arc and the team hit 14-for-22 from three point range on the night.

Michigan State was not competitive against the Tar Heels either of the two occasions the teams met last season, and Lucas indicated that fact has his squad anxious to make amends.

"That loss is still there because it was in Detroit, my hometown," Lucas said. "It was my fans, everybody was there. We got beat pretty bad. We got embarrassed both times. We can't wait. We can't wait to play this game."

Although Lucas wants to exact some revenge, he will be attempting to do it mostly against the name on the front of the jersey rather than the players who led UNC to decisive wins over the Spartans. Gone from last season's National Championship team are Ty Lawson, Tyler Hansborugh, Danny Green, and Wayne Ellington. The current group of players, which has amassed a 6-1 record heading into tonight's contest, is led by senior forward Deon Thompson (17.7 pts/8.9 reb per game) and senior combo guard Marcus Ginyard (11.4 pts/4.1 ast per game).

Given that the Spartans are the more experienced team right now, Head Coach Roy Williams is expecting a superior effort from his team this evening.

"They'll be fired up, but I think we will be also," Williams said. "It's a regular season game and we're going to play as hard as we can."
