California vs Kansas College Basketball Picks: The California Golden Bears and Kansas Jayhawks will mix it up tonight at legendary Phog Allen Fieldhouse in Lawrence, Kansas. Despite his skilled group of players, which have not played since December 9th, Montgomery knows the challenge that awaits them tonight will require a superior team effort.
"For us to have any chance, we're going to have to play very well together," Montgomery said.
The Jayhawks bring a 10-0 record and No. 1 ranking onto the court with them tonight. Kansas last displayed its basketball wares on Saturday in a 75-64 win over the Michigan Wolverines. The victory improved the Jayhawks home record to 8-0, where they are averaging 95.4 points per game and giving up just 57.4.
Bill Self's squad has no shortage of experienced talent, but it is led in scoring by freshman Xavier Henry. Henry is averaging 17.7 points and 3.8 rebounds per game coming into this evening's contest.
Self was more concerned with Cal's players in the lead up to tonight's tip, though, especially after the Jayhawks modest effort against the Wolverines.
"They (Golden Bears) could easily win the Pac-10 and they are the best team we have played so far," Self said.
