missouri marcus denmonNo. 6 Baylor, fresh off an embarrassing home loss to Kansas, will square off against No. 4 Missouri tomorrow afternoon in Columbia as it attempts to stay in the Big 12 title chase. The Bears and Tigers are scheduled to tip things off at the Mizzou Arena at 1:30pm ET; the game can be seen live on ESPN3. NCAAB Point Spreads have Missouri listed as a -6 against the spread home favorite and the Over/Under set at 145 points.

Baylor only has three losses this season, but it would appear the Bears are not capable of hanging with the top two teams in the Big 12 conference as all three of those setbacks came at the hands of Missouri and Kansas. Fortunately for Scott Drew’s squad it gets one last opportunity to prove it is on equal footing with the Tigers and Jayhawks.

The Bears, who lost to 74-92 in Lawrence on January 16th, come into tomorrow’s game after taking another shot on the chin from Kansas. The Jayhawks defense held Baylor to 37 percent field goal shooting while limiting the big man duo of Quincy Acy and Perry Jones to 16 points (4-of-15 from the field) and 13 rebounds.

The loss dropped the Bears record to 21-3 overall but, more importantly, it brought their league record to 8-3 effectively putting their conference championship chances in serious jeopardy. In fact, if Baylor is unable to upset the Tigers tomorrow afternoon it can kiss its league title hopes goodbye.

Missouri ran its record to 22-2 on Monday with a narrow 71-68 win over Oklahoma in Norman. The victory, which came on the heels of the Tigers 74-71 home win against Kansas, saw senior guard Marcus Denmon follow up his 29 point effort opposite the Jayhawks with a 25 point night. Ricardo Ratliffe, who leads the nation with a 75.5 field goal percentage, posted a 15 point, 10 rebound double-double in besting the Sooners.

Missouri, which owns the top spot in the Big 12 with a 9-2 conference record, had four players score in double figures in its last meeting with the Bears. Ratliffe and Denmon were among those as they combined for 37 points and 11 boards in the one point victory. That win represented the Tigers fourth in its last five games against Baylor.

Unless Baylor can find some heretofore undisplayed big game fortitude it will probably find itself chasing the Tigers’ tale again tomorrow. Take Mizzou, which has defeated conference foes by an average of 16.8 points per game in Columbia, minus the six points.
