Georgetown and Pitt vie for BIG EAST ChampionshipThe top-seeded Georgetown Hoyas will play the third-seeded Pitt Panthers in the BIG EAST Tournament Championship game tonight at 9 p.m. EST from Madison Square Garden in New York. The game will be televised nationally by ESPN.                                  

The Hoyas are favored  in the championship game with the Panthers by a -2.0 point chalk with a 120 total at offshore sportsbook BoDog.com. The teams first met on Jan.13th at Pittsburgh. In that game, the Panthers were favored by -6 with a 120 total. Georgetown got the cover ATS while the OVER cashed on the total. The Hoyas got the straight up win and a -7 ½ point cover ATS when the Panthers visited the Nation’s Capitol on Feb. 24th. The UNDER 120 ½ cashed on the total bet. 

Georgetown advanced to championship game after a thrilling 84-82 win over Notre Dame in the Semifinals Friday night. A win tonight would give coach John Thompson and the Hoyas their first tournament championship crown since 1989, when they beat Syracuse, 88-79. This is the team’s first appearance in the championship game since 1996. The win over Notre Dame gave the Hoyas an 11-0 record in BIG EAST Tournament play when they are the No. 1 seed. The Hoyas improved to 25-6 overall with the win. Georgetown enters the game having won its last three games and 14 of the last 15 overall.

Antonio Graves scored 10 of his 23 points during Pittsburgh's 20-2 run to start the second half, and the 13th-ranked Panthers advanced to the title game for the sixth time in seven years with a 65-59 victory over No. 12 Louisville on Friday night. Pittsburgh (27-6), which last won the title in 2003, is playing in the championship for the second time in Jamie Dixon’s three seasons as coach. 

Georgetown leads the head-to-head series with Pitt, 38-30 but the teams split their two regular-season matchups, with each winning on their home court. The Hoyas have won three of the last four meetings between the teams. Georgetown is also 2-0 all-time against the Panthers in BIG EAST Tournament play.
