The University of Alabama basketball team will take its new No. 4 ranking on the road tonight (Dec. 7) when it plays the Fighting Irish of Notre Dame in South Bend, Indiana. The game will be televised by ESPN with tip-off set for 9 p.m. (EST) The Tide is 7-0 and faces its first “true road game” of the season on Thursday, December 9 when it travels to Notre Dame, 6-1. Notre Dame defeated No. 23 Maryland Sunday night, 81-74. Alabama has posted wins this season, in order, against Jackson State, Middle Tennessee, Iowa, Xavier, Texas Southern, Louisiana Monroe and, its most recent, a 78-60 win against Tennessee State in Tuscaloosa on Saturday. Notre Dame’s only loss this season was by two points, 71-69, to No. 15 Butler. It has wins against IPFW, Lafayette, The Citadel, Lehigh, Winston-Salem and Maryland.
Thursday night’s match-up pits two teams who have won their games this season by healthy victory margins. After seven games Alabama is averaging 75.6 points a game to its opponents’ 58.3 points per game, a scoring margin of 17.3 points a game for the Tide. After seven games Notre Dame is averaging 84.4 points per game to its opponents’ 62.3, a scoring margin of 22.1 points per game. Alabama, undefeated SU through seven games, is only 2-of-5 ATS on the Las Vegas and offshore boards. However, the trio of non-cover results came when the Tide were heavy double-digit favorites, -14.5 against Middle Tennessee, -24.5 versus Louisiana Monroe and -21 to Tennessee State. The two times Alabama cashed ATS came as a single digit favorite, -6 to Iowa winning 72-60 and -2 against Xavier beating the Musketeers SU 63-56. The UNDER has cashed in 4-of-5 games played by Alabama this year. Notre Dame has covered 3-of-4 games ATS in the early season only failing to cover a -28 point chalk against The Citadel but still winning by 24 SU 74-50. The OVER has also cashed in three of Notre Dame’s four games. Bet on College Basketball at BetUS.com and Receive a 25% Referral Bonus! |
