missouri ratliffeNo. 1 Kentucky held serve last night in its new role, now it’s No. 2 Missouri’s turn as it battles Big 12 rival Oklahoma State this evening at the Gallagher-Iba Arena in Stillwater. Tonight’s game, which will be broadcast live on ESPN2, is scheduled to get underway at 7:30pm ET. The latest NCAA Basketball Point Spreads have the Tigers listed as a -9 against the spread road favorite; the game total is set at 141.5 points.

Missouri faced, arguably, its toughest test thus far when it took on then No. 3 Baylor at the Ferrell Center in Waco, Texas on Saturday. The Tigers won the game 89-88, but they dominated almost from start to finish to improve to 18-1 overall and 5-1 in Big 12 action.

The hot shooting Tigers connected on 30 of their 55 field goal attempts in the victory, but they also earned 31 trips to the charity stripe (20 more than the Bears). Mizzou out-rebounded a significantly bigger Baylor squad (27 to 24) as well thanks to a tremendous all-around effort from senior forward Ricardo Ratliffe. Ratliffe led the Tigers with eight boards, six of which came on the offensive glass, and he posted a team high 27 points on 11-of-14 field goal shooting.

Point guard Phil Pressey also turned in a gaudy stat line, recording 18 points, five rebounds, seven assists, and six steals. The duo were two of four Missouri players to finish with 10 or more points in the game.

Oklahoma State would seemingly represent an easy win for the Tigers this evening, but a Cowboys upset is not out of the realm of possibility, not at Gallagher-Iba Arena anyway. OSU has experienced more than its share of troubles both at home and on the road this season, though.

Saturday marked the Pokes 10th loss of the season and their fourth in conference play as they fell 66-58 to No. 22 Kansas State at home. The victory marked the Wildcats first win in their last 12 visits to Stillwater, and they managed to halt that 11 game skid despite missing 17 of their 40 free throw attempts.

Oklahoma State won its last meeting with the Tigers, a 76-70 win at home in February of last year, but Mizzou won five of six before that meeting and it has taken two of the last three in Stillwater.
