Boston College Eagles (20-11) vs. Texas Tech Raid Raiders (21-12), 12:25 p.m. ET, Line BC -2.0 (136 total). Texas Tech came on strong at the end of the year winning four of five games before bowing out at the Big 12 tournament losing to Kansas State. Given up for dead after a five game losing streak at mid-season, the Red Raiders won five of their last six games before bowing out at the Big 12 tournament in losing to Kansas State. BC has lost five of its last seven games so coach Al Skinner has his work cut out for him in getting ready for Bobby Knights Red Raiders. Hall of Fame coach Knight will have the Red Raiders ready to play. Point-Spreads.com pick: Texas Tech +2.0.
Washington State Cougars (25-7) vs. Oral Roberts Golden Eagles (23-10) 2:40 p.m., Line WSU -6 ½ (121). Oral Roberts is coming into the opening round confident they can make some noise in the tournament as a 14 seed. With the leadership of career 2000 point scorers, guard Ken Tutt and postman Caleb Green, the Golden Eagles will not be intimidated .The Cougars have been vulnerable in giving up points from outside the arc and ORU can exploit that with deep shooter MarchelloVealy. If there is a potential upset early in the tournament this is it. Point-Spreads.com pick: ORU + 6 ½. Georgetown Hoyas (26-6) vs. Belmont (23-9), 2:45 p.m., Line Georgetown -17 (124 total). Hoyas’ coach John Thompson III did a miraculous job in directing his team to a BIG EAST championship after attrition took its toll on last years final 16 team. Georgetown can make it deeper into this tournament this year. Point-Spreads.com pick: OVER 124. Marquette Golden Eagles (24-9) vs. Michigan State Spartans (22-11), 7:20 p.m., Line -2.0 (123 total). Tom Crean finds his Golden Eagles favored over his mentor for five years Tom Izzo’s Spartans. If Marquette is to beat Michigan State, they will have to do it without top defender, guard Jerel McNeil, out with an injured thumb. The old coach might teach student Crean a lesson. Point-Spreads.com pick: MSU +2. North Carolina (28-6) vs. E. Kentucky (21-11), 9:40 p.m., Line -27 ½ (142 total) . A 16 seed has never defeated a number one seed and it will not happen in this game. There is no potential for an upset here but EKU does have a chance to cover the betting line. EKU +27 ½. Vanderbilt Commodores(20-6) vs. George Washington Colonials (23-8), 5:10 p.m., Line Vanderbilt -3 ½ (140 total). Vandy flamed out losing its last two games to Arkansas and three of its last four to end the season. The Commodores need to find their touch from outside, their bread and butter, or they will not survive against GW. The Colonials have won eight straight games but against inferior competition than what they will see in Vanderbilt of the SEC. Point-Spreads pick: Vanderbilt -3 ½.
