ohio state jared sulligerNo. 3 Ohio State, fresh off its first win at Wisconsin since the Civil War (tongue in cheek), will look to keep its momentum rolling tonight against Purdue. This evening’s Big Ten dust up between the Buckeyes and Boilermakers is scheduled to get underway at 9:00pm ET at the Value City Arena in Columbus, Ohio. The latest NCAAB Point Spreads have Ohio State listed as a -14 against the spread home favorite and the Over/Under set at 128 points.

Ohio State extended its win streak to five games on Saturday with a 58-52 win over then No. 20 Wisconsin at the Kohl Center in Madison. The victory, which improved the Buckeyes record to 20-3 overall, kept Thad Motta squad at the top of the Big Ten standings with an 8-2 conference mark.

Sophomore big man Jared Sullinger starred for Ohio State, scoring 24 points to go along with 10 rebounds and three steals. Also scoring in double figures for the Buckeyes were Deshaun Thomas (16) and William Buford (11).

The victory marked the second time in the Buckeyes last two games that Sullinger, who scored a total of 42 points in two meetings with Purdue last season, recorded double figures in both points and rebounds and it also served as his fourth 20-plus point game since the calendar turned to 2012.

Purdue enters tonight’s looking to claw its way out of slump as it has lost four of its last six conference games to fall to 15-8 overall and 5-5 in league action. The Boilermakers were embarrassed in their last outing, losing 61-78 at home to in-state rival Indiana on Saturday. Purdue got 16 points, 10 rebounds, and five blocks out of forward Robbie Hummel in the loss, but as a team it shot an abysmal 29.6 percent from the field.

Despite that ugly performance, the Boilermakers may come into tonight’s game with a little bit of confidence. While that sounds absurd, Purdue has had Ohio State’s number of late, beating the Buckeyes four times in the last six meetings between the two schools. Make of that what you will, but stranger things have happened in college basketball (i.e. Miami beating Duke at Cameron Indoor).
