Prior to the Georgia Tech setback, Memphis defeated Jackson State 111-69 and Oklahoma 77-65. The Volunteers bring a 6-2 record into Wednesday’s contest. Tennessee has won two straight over Louisiana-Lafayette and Murray State since suffering consecutive setbacks to Butler and North Carolina in the NIT Season Tip-Off in New York City. Bet on NCAA College Basketball at BetUS.com! Wednesday’s game will be the 18th all-time meeting on the hardwood between the two in-state rivals. Tennessee holds a 10-7 lead in the series. Last years meeting was the first between the two schools since 2001-02. Memphis and Tennessee had played 14-straight years from 1988 through 2002.
The Memphis-Tennessee match-up opened as a pick in Las Vegas and offshore but the line quickly moved favoring the Tigers -1 in Vegas and -1 ½ offshore with a total of 160 on both Offshore and Las Vegas boards.
The Volunteers have won 6-of-8 games SU but are 3-of-4 ATS with the total split at three for the OVER and three for the UNDER. Tennessee has covered ATS its last two games against Louisiana Lafayette -11 and Murray State -18 ½. Bet on College Basketball at BetUS.com and Receive a 25% Referral Bonus! The Tigers have a 6-1 record SU but have lost 4-of-6 ATS with 5-of-6 games cashing for the UNDER. Memphis has failed to cover ATS in its last three games, -27 ½ to both Arkansas State and Manhattan and -22 to Marshall. Exception should be given to the fact that the three non-covers were due to over-inflated double-digit lines. Memphis had no problem covering tighter lines against Kentucky as a +3 ½ underdog and winning SU 80-63 over Oklahoma when favored by a -5 point chalk. In tonight’s game, 90% of the public is betting with the Tigers. |
