Who would have thought that Kansas would have been known as an offensive juggernaut this year? They are putting up 44.3 points per game (ppg) with 293.7 yards per game (ypg) coming through the air and 197.4 ypg coming via the rush. Over course this unexpected output is a big reason why the Jayhawks stand at 11-1 straight up (SU) and 10-1 against the spread (ATS). Quarterback Todd Reesing has been a big surprise in passing for more than 3,000 yards and 32 touchdowns to go with only six picks. He had three pass catchers with at least four touchdowns and 400 yards to balance out the attack. With the ground game there are two backs in Brandon McAnderson and Jake Sharp who have combined for 23 touchdowns and more than five yards per carry. The defense hasn't been playing bad either, especially against opposing rushers in that they are giving up only 91.4 ypg rushing.
Virginia Tech isn't about to lay over though as the Hokies think that the soft schedule was a big reason for the Jayhawk record and stats. Virginia Tech came down the stretch with guns blazing in covering six of their last seven, all but one of which they were laying the points. The early offensive struggles now appear to be a thing of the past with two quarterbacks leading offense to more than 30 ppg over their last four games. Sean Glennon is the pocket passer with Tyrod Taylor coming in when the team needs a dual threat or to give the opposition a different look. Still, the defense and special teams seems to reign supreme with the Hokies ranking 4th in rushing defense and 5th in total defense.
This is a game that might be overlooked a lot by the general public since Kansas is an unknown and Virginia Tech hasn't been as flashy this year with a weaker offense and a strong defense.
