For the second straight year the WAC champion has been invited to a BCS bowl and will try to go 2-0 in those bowls if No.10 Hawaii can find a way to defeat SEC powerhouse No.4 Georgia in tonight’s Sugar Bowl in New Orleans. Oddsmakers at online sports wagering giant Sportsbook.com don’t give the Warriors much of a chance having Georgia installed the favorite by an 8-point chalk. Oddsmakers do expect a high scoring game and have set the game total at 68 ½.
Hawaii has its big chance to complete another Cinderella season by a WAC member; but the Bulldogs were playing as well as any team in the country during the final month of the season. The most intriguing question of the game is if the Warriors’ run-and-shoot can work against a SEC defense. Hawaii quarterback Colt Brennan must show pinpoint accuracy and make his reads quickly to beat the Bulldogs pass rush.
Brennan is third in the nation in passing efficiency with a rating of 166.3. He has thrown for 4,174 yards and 38 touchdowns in leading Hawaii to a perfect 12-0 record in the regular season. Brennan also has rushed for eight touchdowns to rank fourth in the nation in points responsible for with 25.1 per game. Devone Bess leads the squad with 101 receptions on the season. He has hauled in 1,213 receiving yards and is second on the team with 12 touchdowns. He has gone over the 1,000-yard mark in receiving all three seasons with UH.
