by Reno Gold on Saturday, January 1st, 2011

After going 0-5 in BCS bowls over the past decade, the 9th ranked Oklahoma University Sooners have a good chance to get a win this New Years Day (8:30 pm ET, ESPN) when they play BIG EAST Champions, No. 25 Connecticut Huskies, who are playing in their first BCS Bowl. Oddsmakers at most offshore sports betting sites list the Sooners as -15 spreads favorites with a 54 total. Be sure to get the latest College Football Point Spreads for all the 2010-11 bowl season.

Connecticut vs Oklahoma 2011 Fiesta Bowl Spreads, Odds & PredictionsMedia experts have labeled this game as possibly the biggest mismatch of the BCS Bowls. Oddsmakers at sports books opened betting by listing the Sooners as 17-chalk favorites. The betting public wasn't buying the big line and bet heavily on Connecticut forcing oddsmakers to drop the line by two points. Betting currently show 67% of early wagers on Oklahoma at -15. The combined game score is expected to go OVER the posted 60 point total by 60%.

Connecticut survived a mid-season slump when they lost back to back road games at Rutgers and Louisville. The Huskies had a rough start to the season losing two of their first two road games at Michigan and Temple. The Huskies then got hot winning their final four games of the year including victories over BIG EAST favorites Pittsburgh. UCONN also picked up wins down the stretch against Syracuse and South Florida, two bowl winners this past week.

Like Connecticut, the Sooners survived a mid-season dip losing conference games to Missouri and Texas A&M. Oklahoma won its final three regular season games and qualified for the BIG 12 Championship game by defeating Oklahoma State on Nov. 27. Oklahoma then defeated Nebraska in the BIG 12 Championship game.

A key to this game will be how Connecticut's defense handles a fast playing Oklahoma offense led by quarterback Landry Jones. The OU sophomore threw for over 4,200 yards and 35 touchdowns.

Fiesta Bowl Picks: The Huskies were big underdogs last year to South Carolina in the Papa John's Pizza Bowl and pounded the Gamecocks. I remember well as South Carolina was my pick. The Huskies are a little underated and will cover the +15 point spread.
