For the second straight year, the No. 3 ranked Texas Christian University Horned Frogs went undefeated (12-0) only to be denied a chance of competing for a national championship. For the second straight year, the Horned Frogs are rewarded for their efforts, in spite of getting the cold shoulder from polls and computers. On New Years Day 2011, TCU will play a BCS Bowl and this year get to play a traditional BCS power in BIG TEN Champions, the No. 4 Wisconsin Badgers (11-1) at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, Calif. Oddsmakers at most offshore sports books, list the Horned Frogs as 3-chalk favorites versus the Badgers with a 58 total. TCU is very competant offensively with senior quarterback Andy Dalton running the show. This year Dalton threw for 26 touchdowns against only six interceptions. Dalton accounted for 2,638 yards in passing and ran for over 400 yards as welll. However, the strength of the Horned Frogs is their defense. The Frogs were very stingy allowing only 11.4 points per game. Teams could only muster an average 215.4 yards per game against the TCU defensive unit.
It will be interesting to see how the TCU defense will hold up going against a powerful Wisconsin offense, that averages 43.3 points per game. The Badgers are methodical at running the ball and have the potential to wear down the TCU defense. No team in the Mountain West Conference run with the power of the Badgers.
