Monday night (8:30 p.m. ET, FOX), the 6th (AP) ranked Boise State Broncos (13-0) of the Western Athletic Conference will play the Horned Frogs of Texas Christian University (12-0) in the Tostito's Fiesta Bowl at University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, Ariz.
With kickoff only a few hours away, college football gamblers can forget about all the hype, BCS politics and conspiracy theories of why TCU and BSU, the only schools from non-BCS conferences, are stuck playing each other. What this is – is a great matchup between schools with very high rankings and undefeated records. The only other matchup you will see this bowl season with such credentials is the BCS Championship Game to be played Thursday between No. 1 Alabama and No. 2 Texas.
TCU and Boise State are no strangers to each other. Twice this decade they have met in bowl's, recently as last year when the Horned Frogs came from a 13-point deficit to edge the Broncos by a single point for the Poinsettia Bowl win.
This game matches up TCU's No. 1 ranked total defense against BSU's No. 1 ranked scoring offense. But don't get caught up in the statistics too much. Both teams are very good on both sides of the ball. A testimate to that for the Broncos defense is their shutting down Oregon's high octane offense to just nine points in their 19-8 win in week 1. Speaking of high octane, TCU brings to the game the nations fourth best offense averaging 469.1 yards per game.
