2011 BCS Odds: The start of the 2010 College Football season is still two months away, but the beginning of summer always stirs the juices of football fans around the country. Sportsbook.com has done its part to increase the fervor by releasing its 2011 BCS Odds. The online bookmaker has four schools, Alabama, Florida, Ohio State, and Oklahoma, tabbed as the most likely BCS contenders, with each team presently listed at +600 moneyline odds to win the 2011 National Championship Game.
Alabama Crimson Tide: Alabama returns just 10 starters from last year's 14-0 National Championship
squad; however, the Nick Saban recruiting machine has stocked the program with plenty of talented replacements. Offensively the Tide should be even better that last year's 32.1 point per game unit, with quarterback Greg McElroy, Heisman winning running back Mark Ingram, and wide receiver Julio Jones all returning.
Florida Gators: Florida dropped just one game last season and that came against BCS Champ Alabama. Can the Gators regroup for another 13 win season this year? Like the Tide, they lose a number of starters, 11 to be exact, including 2007 Heisman winner Tim Tebow. However, 42 lettermen are back and Meyer, who will return for a sixth season with the program, has brought in a top-notch recruiting class once again.
Ohio State Buckeyes: Jim Tressel brings back 15 starters from last season's 11-2 Rose Bowl winning team, including Heisman candidate, quarterback Terrelle Pryor. Pryor, who led the team in rushing last year, has his top four receivers as well as starting tailback Brandon Saine still at his disposal. The defense, which held teams to 12.5 points per game in 2009, retained its top two tacklers and its leading sacker.
Oklahoma Sooners: Bob Stoops' squad disappointed last year with an out of character 8-5 finish to the season, but no one is expecting a repeat performance in 2010. The Sooners have 13 starters and 48 lettermen back as well as a much more experienced Landry Jones under center. The offense, even with a green Jones, still averaged 31.1 points per game last season; expect that number to go up considerably this year as OU passes its way back into the BCS picture.
