Kansas State Wildcats 2010 College Football Predictions – BCS Odds 2011: Bill Synder has worked some magic in Manhattan in the past, but it looks like he may be a year or two away from doing that with the rebuilding project he inherited from Ron Prince. All is not lost in the Little Apple, though, as 2010 College Football Predictions at BetUS.com have the Wildcats listed ahead of Kansas, Iowa State, and Colorado in the race to win the Big 12 North at +400 moneyline odds.
Bill Synder took over a team that went 5-7 in 2008 with first round draft pick Josh Freeman under center and guided it to a
6-6 record last season. Many were surprised at the result as they did not expect the old coach to find four wins in conference play, especially without Freeman.
Now Synder welcomes back 11 starters and 40 lettermen from that pedestrain group. Carson Coffman, who threw for 860 yards, two touchdowns, and four interceptions, in a part time role last year will helm the quarterback position. He will look to improve on the Wildcats 23 point and 349 yard per game averages with the help of senior running back Daniel Thomas, the 2009 Big 12 Newcomer of the Year. Thomas was the strength of last year's unit after rushing for 1265 yards (5.1 ypc) and 11 touchdowns.
The Wildcats defense almost matched the offense in numbers, giving up an average of 23.3 points and 340 yards per game. With six starters returning, including top tackler Emmanuel Lemur, the defense should show some definite improvement. Synder also gets sophomore defensive end Brandon Harold back, a 2008 first team freshman All American, who missed last season with an injury.
Kansas State gets conference home games against Iowa State (Kansas City), Nebraska, Oklahoma State, and Texas while facing Kansas, Baylor, Missouri, and Colorado on the road. The Wildcats non-conference schedule includes tough meetings with UCLA and North Texas.
