Georgia Bulldogs 2010 College Football Predictions – BCS Odds 2011

Georgia Bulldogs 2010 College Football Predictions – BCS Odds 2011: Expectations are always lofty at the University of Georgia over its Bulldogs football team and often deservedly so. Getting a good feel on how the 2010 team might perform is a little more difficult. It is known through and around the SEC that head coach Mark Richt needs to produce a successful team or this could end up being his last year.

Georgia Bulldogs 2010 College Football Predictions - BCS Odds 2011College football oddsmakers at SPORTSBETTING.com list odds on the Bulldogs winning the 2011 BCS National Championship at +3300 or 33/1.

Of course no games have been played, but on paper it appears the Dawgs are a little overrated. While the SEC East doesn't appear to be as tough this year with programs at Florida and Tennessee in transition – Florida going without Tim Tebow for the first time in four years and Tennessee's coaching carousel, the division could be up for grabs.

Still, we (Point-Spreads.com) see Georgia as the third best team in their division and seventh or eighth best in the SEC. For the Bulldogs to win the East they would need to out perform an improved South Carolina squad and still best Florida. Odds are based on gamblers perception and oddsmakers know they can get players to bite on Georgia's inflated odds.

If any team in the SEC East is able to top Florida in 2010 it will probably be South Carolina, undervalued at +10,000 (100/1) odds.

Georgia will be led on the field by redshirt freshman quarterback Aaron Murray who won the
job in the spring. Murray will be green having never thrown a pass in a college game. Overall in the spring he was solid, completing 59 percent of his passes in three scrimmages. For Georgia to be successful, Murray will need to be a quick study and adjust to the speed of the SEC defenses.

Fortunately for Murray, he will have at his disposal one of the best, if not the best, wide receivers in the SEC and America in A.J. Green. Couple that with a solid returning offensive line, Murray will have some early protection.

If Georgia has an achilles heel it is probably more on defense than with its quarterback. Opposing offenses scored early and often on the weak unit of 2009. So it will be interesting to see if any of the changes from spring ball have any effect.

Bulldogs' fans will not have to wait long before finding out how good the 2010 team will be. UGA travels to Columbia, S.C., in week 2 (Sept. 11) to play the Gamecocks and must turn around and host the high flying Arkansas Razorbacks in Athens on Sept. 18. It is conceivable Georgia loses both those games.
