2009 College Football Odds: Buckeyes Head Coach Jim Tressel enters his 11th season patrolling the Ohio State sidelines, and, once again, he will be overseeing one of the most talented team's in the country. Ohio State returns 12 starters from last year's 10-3 Fiesta Bowl squad and could challenge for a shot at the National Championship this season. Oddsmakers at BetUS.com have the Buckeyes listed at +1000 on the moneyline to win the BCS National Championship in their Ohio State Buckeyes 2009 College Football Odds.   Ohio State Buckeyes 2009 College Football Odds - BCS Odds 2010

Ohio State was one of the best team's in the nation a season ago, but they were not good enough to make a third consecutive appearance in the national championship or even win the Big 10. The Buckeyes stumbled in week three on the road, losing 35-3 to USC and lost 6-13 in what amounted to a battle for the conference title at home against Penn State. Nonetheless, Tressel's team still went 7-1 in league play and finished the regular season at 10-2.

Returning to helm the quarterback position in phenom Terrelle Pryor. Pryor rushed 631 yards and six touchdowns while throwing for 1311 and 12 touches as a true freshman last year. He will, again, be Ohio State's biggest offensive threat and is garnering +800 odds to win the Heisman Trophy as a result.

The offense does lose running back Chris "Beanie" Wells and top receiver Brian Robiskie, but will have speedster Brandon Saine in the backfield and wideouts Dane Sanzenbacher and DeVier Possey back as well.

The Ohio State defense was one of the top units in the FBS last year. The tough squad gave up just 294 yards per game on the season and held teams to an average of 13.9 points per contest. USC, Illinois, and Texas were the only teams to score 20 or more points on the group, and only four teams had over 200 yards passing against them on the year.

Top tackler, linebacker James Laurinaitis, is gone but seven staters return to the wrecking crew unit, including standouts Thaddeus Gibson (DE), Chimdi Chekwa (CB), and Ross Holman (LB).

The Buckeyes have another tough non-conference slate this season, facing Navy, USC, Toledo, and New Mexico St. They open with a tilt against the Midshipmen at Ohio Stadium on September 5th and start Big 10 action against the Fighting Illini at home on September 26th.
