Connecticut Huskies 2010 College Football Predictions – BCS Odds 2011

Connecticut Huskies 2010 College Football Predictions – BCS Odds 2011: Randy Edsall has turned Connecticut into a solid FBS program in his 11 years at the school, which has led to increased Big East expectations for the Huskies. 2010 College Football Predictions at BetUS.com have Connecticut listed at +250 moneyline odds to win the conference this season, giving Edsall's squad an equal share of the favored status with both Pittsburgh and West Virginia.

Connecticut won at least eight games for a third consecutive season in 2009 after beating South Carolina 20-7 in the Connecticut Huskies 2010 College Football Predictions - BCS Odds 2011Papajohns.com Bowl. The Huskies figure to match that total again this season, if not exceed it, with 16 starters and 39 lettermen returning to Storrs to compete for Edsall.

The offense, which averaged 31.2 points and 387 yards per game last year, brings back 22 lettermen, including quarterbacks Zach Frazer and Cody Endres. Frazer figures to be the starter after throwing for 1461 yards and 10 touchdowns as a junior, but should he slip, Endres would be ready to assume the role. The junior passer filled in for an injured Frazer last season and tallied 1354 pass yards and a 63.6 completion percentage (Frazer 53.2).

Frazer and starting running back Jordan Todman, who rushed for 1188 yards and 14 touchdowns in 2009, will have the benefit of working behind one of the best offensive lines in the Big East. Four starters are back upfront, including all conference performers Moe Petrus (C) and Zach Hurd (RG).

The Huskies defense, which had a difficult time in Big East play, giving up 30 points and 458 yards per game, should be a much better unit in 2010 with eight starters coming back. The team's top tackler and best defensive player, linebacker Lawrence Wilson, returns after recording 140 tackles and five sacks as a junior. He will be joined by solid mates in defensive end Greg Lloyd (91 tackles) and linebacker Scott Lutrus (69 tackles, 3.5 sacks).

Connecticut has some quality non-conference foes in Michigan and Temple, both of which they play on the road, but it should be a decisive favorite in its other three games (Texas Southern, Buffalo, Vanderbilt). The conference schedule also shapes up well for the Huskies as Edsall and company get West Virginia, Pitt, and Cincinnati at home.
