Penn State Nittany Lions 2010 College Football Predictions – BCS Odds 2011: It will be difficult for Penn State to win the 2011 BCS Championship primarily because of the "at" word – at Alabama, at Iowa and at Ohio State. For a BIG TEN team to win a National Championship it almost always needs to go undefeated. While prospects are high and expectations even higher for the Nittany Lions; they are not good enough to go undefeated. In reality, Penn State will probably lose at least two games if not three.

Penn State Nittany Lions 2010 College Football Predictions - BCS Odds 2011If you were to make a $100 futures bet at BetUS.com that Penn State wins the next BCS Championship, the wager would pay you $3000 based on the +3000 or 30/1 odds line if they win. BetUS also has the Nittany Lions lined at +650 odds that they will win the BIG TEN Conference. Ohio State, at -250 odds is the heavy favorite to win the league.

Penn State returns 13 starters from the 2009 squad, along with 11 players who have made starts during their careers. Seven starters are back on offense and five on defense, along with placekicker Collin Wagner. The 11 additional returning players that have made
starts have a combined total of 35 amongst them, led by linebacker Bani Gbadyu and guard Johnnie Troutman with eight apiece.

Among the returnees are two Nittany Lions who have earned All-Big Ten recognition. Senior tailback Evan Royster garnered first-team all-conference accolades in 2009 and was a second-team choice in 2008. Senior center Stefen Wisniewski also was a first-team selection last year and earned second-team All-Big Ten honors at guard in 2008. Royster is getting some preseason Heisman Trophy attention.

2010 Outlook: The Nittany Lions will have a very good football team but as we said earlier; they are not of National Championship stock. Of course a win over Alabama would quickly change things.
