Southern Cal Trojans 2010 College Football Predictions – BCS Odds 2011: USC football suffered several major blows this offseason as former Head Coach Pete Carroll, who resurrected the program, left to take over the Seattle Seahawks and the NCAA slammed heavy sanctions on the athletic department for violations that occurred over the past decade. The school tabbed former offensive coordinator Lane Kiffin to replace Carroll and now hopes that he can maintain the football program's stature through what will be a difficult stretch. 2010 College Football Predictions at BetUS.com are forecasting good things on the field this season as the Trojans are presently favored at -150 moneyline odds to win Over 9.5 games.

USC football will not be able to participate in postseason football in 2010 or 2011 and it will lose a total of 30 football Southern Cal Trojans 2010 College Football Predictions - BCS Odds 2011scholarships in 2011, 2012, and 2013 as a result of NCAA violations that mostly involved former Heisman winner Reggie Bush. Maintaining its Pac 10 dominance through those sanctions will be a difficult charge, but Kiffin is at least familiar with the terrain and did a serviceable in his one season on the Tennessee sidelines.

Kiffin inherits five starters from an offense that averaged 26.5 points and 389 yards per game last year, the worst totals the Trojans have turned out since 2001. Sophomore quarterback Matt Barkley, who threw for 2735 yards, 15 touchdowns, and 14 interceptions as a freshman, returns as do fellow starters Kristofer O'Dowd (center), Tyron Smith (left tackle), Stanley Havili (running back), and Ronald Johnson (wide receiver). Senior Allen Bradford, who rushed for 668 yards and eight touchdowns in 2009, will also be back with the team.

If Barkley improves, which is almost a given, than the team should see a spike in last season's numbers, especially its conference averages as USC posted just 23.6 points and 354 yards per game in Pac 10 play a year ago.

USC's defense played well in 2009, but fell far short of matching what the 2008 Trojans did, allowing 10.8 more points and 118 more yards per contest than its predecessor. Just five starters are back; however, 26 lettermen return and the team has a new coordinator in defensive mastermind Monte Kiffin, Lane's father. The talent level on the front seven is outstanding as 19.5 sacks, 27.5 tackles for loss, 12 passes defended, and three interceptions are back, but the secondary is a question mark as safety Taylor Mays and cornerbacks Kevin Thomas and Josh Pinkard have moved on.

2010 College Football Predictions: 9-4 Overall, 5-4 Conference, Fourth Place Pac 10
