UCLA Bruins 2010 College Football Predictions – BCS Odds 2011

UCLA Bruins 2010 College Football Predictions – BCS Odds 2011: UCLA is moving in the right direction under Head Coach Rick Neuheisel, improving from 4-8 his first season to 7-6 last year, but much work remains for the former Bruins quarterback. The latest 2010 College Football Predictions at online bookmaker BetUS.com would seem to confirm that sentiment as UCLA is favored to finish Under 5.5 wins at -125 moneyline odds.

The Bruins 2009 offense, while an upgrade over the abysmal 2008 version, still left much to be desired as it posted an UCLA Bruins 2010 College Football Predictions - BCS Odds 2011average of 22 points and 337 yards per game. With eight starters back this season, including sophomore quarterback Kevin Prince, those numbers are almost certain to go up. Prince had an inconsistent freshman year, throwing for 2050 yards, eight touchdowns, and eight interceptions, but figures to improve given his ability and valuable underclassmen experience.

Joining Prince are leading rusher Jonathan Franklin and top receivers Nelson Rosario and Taylor Embree. Franklin, also a sophomore, rushed for 566 yards and five scores as a true freshman while Rosario and Embree combined for 87 catches, 1331 yards, and four touchdowns.

Aiding the continued development of Prince and Franklin is what should be one of the best offensive lines in the conference. Four starters from last season's unit return as well as former starter Micah Kia, who missed 2009 with a torn ACL.

UCLA's defense allowed 21.2 points and 334 yards per game in defensive coordinator Chuck Bullough's first year on the job. The Bruins welcome back five starters and 22 lettermen from that group, but not among the returnees are All Pac 10 performers Reggie Carter (LB) and Alterraun Verner (CB) as well as Pac 10 Defensive Player of the Year Brian Price (DT). However, there are still a number of solid players lining up for Bullough, including junior linebacker Akeem Ayers (76 tackles, six sacks, and four interceptions last season) and free safety Raheem Moore (49 tackles, 10 interceptions as a sophomore).

UCLA faces a brutal non-conference schedule with games at Kansas State and Texas as well as a home game against an explosive Houston team. The Bruins could lose all three of those games, leaving them desperate in a conference slate that includes road meetings with California, Oregon, and Washington.
