Virginia Tech Hokies 2010 College Football Predictions – BCS Odds 2011

Virginia Tech Hokies 2010 College Football Predictions – BCS Odds 2011: The Virginia Tech Hokies football team, ranked fifth in ESPN's early preseason poll, have won three Atlantic Coast Conference championships since they joined the league six years ago and are the media's pick to win the championship again in 2010.

Virginia Tech Hokies 2010 College Football Predictions - BCS Odds 2011BetUS.com oddsmakers, however, do not concur with media representatives who cover ACC football. BetUS list odds on the Hokies winning the ACC Coastal Division at +175, second to Miami at +150. BetUS also lists Tech, at +300 odds to win the ACC outright, third to favorites Miami (+240) and Florida State (+275).

Virginia Tech is considered a slight +1800 (18/1) odds longshot to win the 2011 BCS Championship.

One way to get a grasp on how good the Hokies will be in 2010 is to look at the returning production index. The Hokies return 1.000 percent of their passing, with starter Tyrod Taylor and .997 percent of their rushing index with two of the best runners in the ACC, junior TB Darren EVans and sophomore TB Ryan Williams. A first team All-ACC choice in 2009, Williams became the first freshman in ACC history to lead the league in rushing and scoring. His 1,655 yards on the ground not only broke Evans' freshman record it also was the third-best single-season total in ACC History. His 22 touchdowns set an ACC single-season touchdown record.

QB Tyrod Taylor returns to run the show for the third straight year. Taylor completed 56 percent of his passes in 2009 for 2,311 yards and 13 TD's. Taylor finished 13th nationally in pass efficiency.

Tech is scheduled to meet seven teams in 2010 which went to bowl games in 2009. That includes non-conference foes Boise State, East Carolina, and Central Michigan as ACC rivals Georgia Tech, Miami, North Carolina and Boston College.

If the Hokies go undefeated they should probably get a chance to play for the BCS Championship. However, going 13-0, which would include winning the ACC Championship Game is a reach. Fans will find out quickly how good the Hokies are. Boise State, who regardless of fans opinion of the WAC, is the real-deal and arrive to play Tech in Washington D.C. on Sept. 6th. The Broncos are the best team on Tech's schedule period. If the Hokies are lucky enough to get past the Broncos, they could be in for a long run to success. But beating Boise State is easier said than done. Just ask anybody who's played them the past several years.

How many wins  will Virgina Tech have this year? BetUS.com has a posted total of 9 1/2 for you to bet on. An OVER wager is priced at -125 while an UNDER wager is lined at -105. My prediction – Tech exceeds the 9 1/2 by a slim margin. Tech will go 10-2 regular season, losing to Boise State and one other foe. It's still good enough to get them in the ACC Championshp game and that will make Hokie Nation happy.
