Arizona State Sun Devils 2010 College Football Predictions – BCS Odds 2011: Arizona State has been in a decline since going 10-3 in 2007, totaling just nine wins over the past two seasons. With just nine starters from last year's 4-8 squad back in Tempe, the prospects of a winning conference record this year seem daunting. 2010 College Football Predictions at BetUS.com have the Sun Devils listed at +1200 moneyline odds to win the Pac 10, putting them ahead of only Washington State in the bookmaker's odds leaderboard.

Dennis Erickson is a long way from Miami, Florida, where he enjoyed his greatest success on the sidelines, however, the 63Arizona State Sun Devils 2010 College Football Predictions - BCS Odds 2011 year old veteran still knows a thing or two about coaching. He will need to employ his vast experience in order to make the best of what many are anticipating to be another down year for the Sun Devils.

Arizona State's 2009 offense posted its worst scoring total since 1994, averaging just 22.3 points per game. The yardage total, while better than 2008's was still a lackluster 334 yards per contest. Back-to-back dismal seasons led to the firing of coordinator Rich Olson, who will be replaced by Noel Mazzone. Along with Olson, the starting quarterback, leading rusher, and top two receivers are also gone, which may be a good or bad thing depended on the point of view. Clearly the previous group did not get much done, meaning their replacements will have the opportunity to outperform them.

The new starter under center will probably be Michigan transfer Steven Threet while the primary rushing duties will fall to sophomore Cameron Marshall, who tallied 280 yards and two touchdowns as a true freshman last season. The offensive line loses three starters but should be able to match or exceed the play of last year's unit with the addition of several highly touted prospects.

Arizona State's defense played extremely well last season, giving up a 21.1 points and a paltry 298 yards per game. Five starters and 24 lettermen are back, but the unit will have a difficult time matching 2009's production considering five of the top six tacklers are gone. There are still some quality pieces, though, in sophomore linebacker Vontaze Burfict (69 tackles, two sacks as a true freshman) and defensive tackle Lawrence Guy (37 tackles, 4.5 sacks).

The Sun Devils should get off to a 2-1 start with Wisconsin being the only non-conference foe of any consequence, but their Pac 10 slate features road games at Oregon State, Washington, California, USC, and Arizona. ASU needs to make the most of its home opportunities (Oregon, Washington State, Stanford, UCLA) in order to best last season's four wins.
