TCU Horned Frogs 2010 Collge Football Predictions – BCS Odds 2011: Texas Christian has consistently been one of the better teams in college football over the past several seasons, going 53-11 since 2005. Head Coach Gary Patterson has turned the team into a true powerhouse the last two years, though, as the Horned Frogs are 22-2 outside of bowl action. 2010 College Football Predictions at BetUS.com have TCU listed at -300 moneyline odds to finish Over 10.5 wins this season.
Texas Christian garnered a BCS Bowl last year after cruising through its regular season schedule with an undefeated 12-0 record. The
Horned Frogs did fall 17-10 to Boise State (14-0) in the Fiesta Bowl, but finished sixth in the final BCS rankings. Despite ending the year on a sour note, Gary Patterson has a great deal to feel good about heading into the upcoming season. Sixteen starters and 54 lettermen are back in Fort Worth, giving the coach, perhaps, his best squad ever.
The offense, which reached new heights last season by averaging 38.3 points and 457 yards per game, will be even more potent with nine starters back, including quarterback Andy Dalton. Dalton, who had an outstanding junior campaign, throwing for 2756 yards and 23 touchdowns to just eight interceptions (512 rush yard, three rushign scores), is a dark horse Heisman candidate playing behind an offensive line that returns Mountain West first teamers Marcus Cannon (RT) and Jake Kirkpatrick (C).
TCU's top four receivers are back as well in Jermey Kerley, Jimmy Young, Antoine Hicks, and Bart Johnson. Kerley led the team a season ago with 44 receptions for 532 yards while Young ranked second with 517 and three touchdowns.
Leading rusher Joseph Turner is gone, but sophomore Matthew Tucker, who tallied 676 yards and eight touchdowns (6.4 yards per carry) as a freshman will take over.
The Horned Frogs defense has been one of, if not the best units in college football since 2008. Last year TCU yielded 12.8 points and 240 yards per game to its opposition, which, amazingly, was 1.5 points and 22 yards worse than its 2008 numbers. The team loses its top tackler Daryl Washington (109) and sack master Jerry Hughes (11.5) but brings back seven starters and 24 lettermen, making it talented and deep once again. The numbers may repeat last season's slight drop, but another top five statistical finish should be in order.
TCU's non-conference slate features one potential hiccup as the team faces Oregon State in its opener, but the Horned Frogs will be favored against OSU, Tennessee Tech, Baylor, and SMU. Patterson's crew will host its toughest conference foes, with the exception of Utah, as BYU, Air Force, and San Diego State all come to Fort Worth. That makes the Horned Frogs November 6th road meeting with the Utes a possible conference champion decider.
