2010 College Football Predictions Odds to Win Big 12: Since its inception, the Big 12 has fielded some of the best football teams in the nation. The league is hoping to keep that tradition intact on the eve of a major shift in the structure of the conference. Colorado and Nebraska are set to bolt for the Pac 10 and Big 10, respectively, in 2011, which will eliminate the two divisions as well as the conference championship game. 2010 College Football Predictions at Sportsbook.com have the Oklahoma Sooners listed as +125 moneyline favorite to win the Big 12 this season, the final one under its current configuration.
Oklahoma Sooners (+125): Bob Stoops' squad disappointed last year with an 8-5 record, but most everybody in Sooner country
expects a turnaround in 2010. Oklahoma returns 13 starters and 47 lettermen, which should give the team every opportunity to succeed in its quest for redemption. It looks like the team's biggest competition in the South will be traditional nemesis Texas; however, Texas A&M and Texas Tech do not appear to be pushovers either. Should the Sooners win the South, they will probably face either Nebraska or Missouri in the conference championship game.
Nebraska Cornhuskers (+200): Nebraska ended Missouri's two year reign atop the North standings last year by going 6-2 in conference play. The Huskers won their final five regular season games and nearly upset undefeated Texas in the Big 12 Championship, losing 12-13 in the controversial contest. Head Coach Bo Pelini welcomes 15 starters and 59 lettermen back from that group, making Nebraska the clear cut favorite in the North. The only team that could crash the party is the aforementioned Tigers, which makes the Huskers October 30th meeting with Missouri in Lincoln one to circle.
Texas Longhorns (+200): Texas cruised to the South title last year with an unblemished 8-0 run through its conference foes, but, as mentioned, barely secured the league championship with a narrow win over Nebraska in Dallas. Mack Brown has 12 starters and 46 lettermen back in Austin, but not among the returnees is quarterback Colt McCoy. However, the highly touted Garrett Gilbert, who stepped in for the injured McCoy in the Longhorns National Championship loss to Alabama, will assume the duties under center. Texas also has a number of talented junior and senior players filling most of the spots vacated by the departed.
