2010 College Football Predictions Odds to Win SEC: The SEC has produced the last four National Champions and based upon the latest polls, many feel that the conference will produce another in 2011. However, in order to sniff the BCS Championship, squads like Alabama and Florida must first win the SEC, which is no easy task in the talent rich league. 2010 College Football Predictions at online sportsbook BetUS.com are favoring the Crimson Tide at -105 moneyline odds to repeat as conference champion.
Alabama Crimson Tide (-105): Alabama ran the table last season, Nick Saban's third with the school, going 14-0 after
beating Texas 37-21 in the BCS National Championship game. The Crimson Tide bring just 10 starters and 41 lettermen back to Tuscaloosa, but most pundits are not looking for a big drop off from the defending SEC champ.
Alabama, which has met Florida in the last two conference championship games, retains eight from an offense that averaged 32.1 points and 403 yards per game, including Heiman winner Mark Ingram and quarterback Greg McElroy. There are a number of big defensive contributors to replace, namely leading tackler and Butkus Award winner Rolando McClain; however, Saban is a master recruiter and the team has a plethora of talented players ready to fill the defensive ranks.
Florida Gators (+250): The Gators did not win two of the last four National Championships by accident as Urban Meyer knows a thing or two about coaching as well as recruiting. Florida is not that far removed from its own SEC and BCS titles, and will be hungry to supplant Alabama atop the conference standings. Last season's 13-1 record and Meyer's prodigious history would indicate the team certainly has an opportunity to do just that.
Florida did suffer some losses of its own, though, as just 11 starters and 42 lettermen from last season's Sugar Bowl winning squad return. The face of the program, former Heisman winner Tim Tebow, has moved on to the pro ranks, leaving the offense in the hands of junior John Brantley. Like Alabama, the Gators will be relying on some fresh defensive faces to make a big impact with the likes of Joe Haden, Brandon Spikes, and Carlos Dunlap moving on.
