2010 Heisman Trophy Odds: Jake Locker 8 to 1 Odds to Win

2010 Heisman Trophy Odds Jake Locker 8 to 1 Odds to Win: Washington quarterback Jake Locker, who was a highly celebrated prep athlete at Ferndale High School, finds himself in the Heisman chase as he heads into his senior season with the Huskies. Locker, presently listed at 8 to 1 odds to win the Heisman at Sportsbook.com, has his sights set on turning Washington's football program around, though, as the team has not won more than five game since 2003. If he achieves his goal, Locker is almost certain to find himself in New York come December.

Jake Locker, a tremendous all-around athlete, developed into a solid pocket passer last season under the guidance of 2010 Heisman Trophy Odds: Jake Locker 8 to 1 Odds to Winfirst year coach Steve Sarkisian. The Washington native posted career highs in completion percentage (58.2), yardage (2800), touchdowns (21), and passer rating (129.75). Locker also remained a rushing threat, ranking second on the team in rush yards (388) and first in rushing scores (seven).

Locker's play helped the Huskies procure a 5-7 record just a year after the team went 0-12. Washington also scored conference wins over USC, Arizona, Washington State, and California.

Locker, who was a 10th round pick of the Los Angeles Angels in last year's baseball draft, will have a capable group of players around him this season as leading rusher Chris Polk and top receivers Jermaine Kearse and Devin Aguilar all return to Seattle. However, it is Locker that Husky fans are pinning their turnaround hopes on. And, if Washington's senior associate athletic director O.D. Vincent III is correct, they are doing so with good reason.

"An athlete like Jake Locker is once in a generation with the skills he has," Vincent said.
