2009 College Football Odds: Beavers Head Coach Mike Riley had another impressive season in 2008 as Oregon State put together a 9-4 record. The team surprised after returning just seven starters and finished third in the Pac-10 standings with a 7-2 conference mark. Riley's club capped off the year with a 3-0 win over Pittsburgh in the Sun Bowl. Oregon State Beavers 2009 College Football Odds at BetUS.com are favoring another winning season in Corvallis as the Beavers win total is set at 7.5 with the over a -130 favorite. The Beavers offense posted its best scoring average since the 2003 The top two receivers are gone in Sammie Stroughter and Shane Morales, but James Rodgers (Jacquizz' brother), who had 51 receptions and four touchdowns a season ago, returns. Jacquizz also provides a receiving threat out of the backfield as he caught 29 passes for 247 yards in 2008. Oregon State's offensive line might be down some after losing three starters, but figures to get better as the season progresses. Last year the group allowed just 21 sacks and paved the way for 158 yards per game on the ground (4.2 yards per carry). The defense was the big question mark heading into the 2008 season and is again this year with just three returning starters. The concerns are not as big, however, as the front seven has more depth and experience than last year's club did entering play. Second leading tackler Keaton Kristick (82 tackles, 3.5 sacks, 10.5 tackles for loss) will highlight the linebacking corps while junior defensive tackle Stephen Paea will anchor the line. Paea had 41 tackles and five sacks in a stellar sophomore campaign. The Oregon State secondary is a worry, though, with zero starters and a minimal amount of experience returning. The Beavers open the season on September 5th with a non-conference battle against Portland State in Corvallis. Their first conference game is slated for September 26th at Reser Stadium against Arizona. season last year, cranking out 30.5 points per game. The unit figures to be just as strong, if not stronger, this year with top threats
