2009 College Football Odds: The USC football team recorded its seventh straight double digit win season under Head Coach Pete Carroll in 2008, going 12-1 overall and 8-1 in conference play. The Trojans wrapped up the year with their third straight Rose Bowl win as they throttled Penn State 38-24. Only 12 starters are back for Carroll this season, but the roster is still loaded with talent. Sportsbetting.com has Southern Cal's win total set at 10.5 with the under a -140 favorite in their USC Trojans 2009 College Football Odds.

The Trojans offense looked like a well oiled machine last year, USC Trojans 2009 College Football Odds - BCS Odds 2010averaging 37.5 points and 455 yards per game. The man who ran that show, quarterback Mark Sanchez has moved on to the NFL after throwing for 3207 yards and 34 touchdowns. However, Sanchez is one of just two offensive starters to depart over the off-season.

Filling in for the one year signal caller will be either junior Mitch Mustain or sophomore Aaron Corp. Mustain has more experience as he started eight games for Arkansas during his freshman year, but Corp moved ahead of Mustain on the depth chart late last season. Both players are top recruits and either one should keep the USC offense humming with the massive amount of surrounding talent.

The backfield features two of the best rushers in the country in Stafon Johnson and Joe McKnight. The pair combined for 1364 yards and 11 rushing touchdowns in 2008. The receiving corp is also stacked as four of the top five wideouts return, including top producer Damian Williams (58 receptions, 869 yards, nine touchdowns).

The Trojans offensive line ranks as one of the best in the nation as the entire two deep from last season's steller unit returns. There are no shortage of accolades to describe what the group did in 2008, as it yielded just 18 sacks and blasted the way for an average of 195 rushing yards per outing (5.0 yards per carry).

Most of the losses for USC come on the defensive side of the ball as eight starters from last year's outfit have moved on. While there is a great deal of talent still under the tutelage of Carroll and new defensive coordinator Rocky Seto, it will not be easy to replace a group of players that helped limit opponents to just 9 points and 222 yards per game.

The linebacking corps takes the biggest hit as starters Rey Maualuga, Brian Cushing, and Kaluka Maiava were all taken in the 2009 NFL Draft.

The secondary does return two starters, including all-world safety Taylor Mays, giving the team some experience behind a speedy but much younger front seven.

USC opens the season on September 5th with a non-conference battle against San Jose State at Memorial Coliseum. The Trojans first conference game will take place on September 19th in Seattle against the Washington Huskies.
