Miami Redhawks 2010 College Football Predictions – MAC Odds 2010: Miami, Ohio Head Coach Mike Haywood had little to feel positive about last season as his team posted just one victory in his first year with the school. Despite 2009's terrible result, Haywood can expect bigger and better things this season with 51 lettermen back in Oxford. 2010 College Football Predictions at BetUS.com do not have the Redhawks in the MAC title picture, however, as the team is presently listed at +3000 moneyline odds to win the conference championship.
Mike Haywood did not inherit much to work with when he arrived in Oxford, Ohio last year and the team's lackluster 1-11
record reflected that fact. The Redhawks got blistered in non-conference action, losing to Kentucky, Boise State, and Cincinnati (who made the schedule here?) by an average of 38 points per game. The numbers improved in MAC play, but the team still lost seven of eight by an average of 15.1 points per contest.
Miami's offense played a major role in the team's demise, averaging a meager 15.6 points and 344 yards per game. However, Haywood has reason to feel optimistic heading into the 2010 season with all five starters back upfront and starting quarterback Zac Dysert (sophomore) still under center. Dysert threw for 2611 yards and 12 touchdowns last year and ranked second on the team in rushing with a total of 258 yards (five touchdowns).
The top two receivers Armand Robinson and Jamal Rogers are also back, which means the Redhawks passing yardage should experience a significant bump. Last year Robinson reeled in 67 receptions for 788 yards and four touchdowns while Rogers caught 54 passes for 505 yards and three scores.
The defense also played horribly last year as Redhawk opponents averaged 34.2 points and 377 yards per game. Despite those depressing totals, Miami can expect better production from the unit in 2010 with nine starters and 25 lettermen returning. Among those back are leading tacklers Jerrell Wedge (LB) and Anthony Kokal (FS). Wedge, a junior out of Upper Marlboro, Maryland, posted 114 tackles (13.5 for loss) and 5.5 sacks in earning second team all MAC honors a season ago.
