Georgia Bulldogs - SEC PreviewThe Georgia Bulldogs had some rocky moments last season on it’s way to a 9-4 record. Their were unsolved questions at Quarterback last season now those question marks have been put to rest with the emergence of QB Matthew Stafford.

SportsBetting.com has Georgia 35 to 1 Odds to win the 2008 BCS

On offense Georgia is pretty basic. The bulldogs like to use mostly I-formations with the occasional shotgun. Expect the offense to open up a little now that cannon armed play caller Matthew Stafford, 6-3 237, has established himself. Stafford is smart, tough and a leader he could make this offense special. The running game has some bangers with the best being Kregg Lumpkin, 6-1 222. The receivers have been touted highly but have yet to live up to expectations. Lightning fast returner Mikey Henderson, 5-10, 150, did show some flashes of brilliance in the spring as a wideout however. The O-line is young but beefy and a 5 man rotation was set early so reps were at a maximum.

Everything starts up front in the Georgia 4-3 defense. The Bulldogs like to blitz with their back seven with a variety of different zones. The defensive tackles Jeff Owens, 6-3 292, and Kade Weston, 6-5 320, are pluggers in the middle that will make running the ball difficult for opponents. The ends are smallish but are fast and talented. The linebackers are sound with  senior middle linebacker Brandon Miller, 6-4 257, being the glue. In the secondary Paul Oliver, 6-0 201, is an elite cover corner. The rest of the secondary looks to be tough as well with a super freshman prospect Reshad Jones, 6-2 194. The special teams has a game changing kicker in Brandon Coutu who nailed 10-11 field goals last season. Punt returner Mikey Henderson is very dangerous .

With lots of team speed and a great Quarterback the Georgia Bulldogs will be compete for the SEC title. It won’t be easy for Georgia to win more than 9 games with a tough schedule.
