Central Florida Knights 2010 College Football C-USA Predictions & Odds: The University of Central Florida Knights football team are the Point-Spreads.com favorite to win the Eastern Division of Conference USA in 2010. The Knights are also favorites of BetUS.com oddsmakers who have them installed at +550 odds to win the conference outright second only to Houston at -190.
The 2010 Knights non-conference schedule appears relatively lame with a Sept. 11 home date with North Carolina State and Sept. road trip to play Kansas State as the only schools from BCS leagues on the schedule. Both of these games are winnable for the Knights. The Knights travel to play C-USA West favorite Houston, in the toughest game on the Knights schedule. Fans and backers will probably catch the Cougars twice if the two schools win their respective divisions.
The University of Central Florida has led Conference USA in total defense each of the last two years, just the second time in league history that has happened (TCU in 2002-03). The unit ranked fourth nationally in rushing defense. Senior defensive end Bruce Miller returns after being named the Conference USA Defensive Player of the Year in 2009. He ranked fifth in the nation in sacks last season with 14 and tops all returning FBS players with 27 sacks and 44 tackles for loss in his career.
BetUS.com lists UCF at +40,000 odds (400/1) on its 2011 BCS championship board .
Freshman All-American corner back Josh Robinson tied for the C-USA lead and the nation’s lead among freshman with six interceptions, the most ever by a UCF freshman. His 13 passes defended made him the only true freshman to rank among the top 100 players in the FBS in that category.
Junior running back Brynn Harvey had 15 touchdowns last season, the third-highest total in school history and he became the eighth player in school history to reach 1,000 yards in a season, finishing with 1,109. His sophomore numbers exceeded the sophomore numbers of former UCF All-American Kevin Smith.
Senior WR Kamar Aiken’s nine receiving touchdowns in 2009 were the most by a Knight since Mike Sims-Walker had seven in 2006. He is one of seven UCF players who caught at least 10 passes in 2009.
