Tulane Green Wave – 2010 C-USA College Football Predictions: The 2010 Tulane Green Wave football team returns 12 starters, seven on offense, four on defense and one on special teams, and will feature eight redshirt freshmen and 26 newcomers. So what does this mean for Tulane? It means the Green Wave are undermanned and will struggle to win more than three or four games in 2010.
BetUS.com lists Tulane near the bottom of its C-USA championship betting board at +5000 odds (50/1).
The Green Wave begins its fourth season under head coach Bob Toledo and will play seven of its 12 games on its home field in the Louisiana Superdome. Tulane’s 2010 non-conference slate features Southeastern Conference member, Ole Miss. Big East Conference member Rutgers, Army and FCS Southeastern Louisiana of the Southland Conference.
Sophomore quarterback Ryan Griffin returns after producing one of the best seasons by a freshman in school history. He started the last six games of the season and was 118-of-175 for 1,143 yards, eight touchdowns and six picks in those contests. His completions, attempts, passing yardage and touchdown totals are the most by a Tulane freshman in school history. Senior Casey Robottom returns as the team’s top returning receiver. Last season,
Robottom started all 12 games and ranked second on the team in receptions (50), receiving yards (584), yard-per-catch average (11.7) and touchdown
receptions (2).
Tulane will not be winning any championships this year and for that matter, will struggle to win games. Catching Southeast Louisiana from the (FCS) Southland Conference on the field first should give the Green Wave an early victory but they will be hard to find later. Tulane will end the season with a 3-9 season at best.
