2010 College Football Predictions Odds to Win Mountain West: The Mountain West has been a three way battle in recent seasons with TCU, Utah, and BYU all making a bid for conference supremacy. Each of the schools has taken a turn atop the standings since 2007, each doing so with a perfect 8-0 conference record (BYU – 2007, Utah – 2008, TCU – 2009). Despite the thick competition that has characterized the Mountain West of late, 2010 College Football Predictions at BetUS.com are looking for the Horned Frogs to run away with the championship this year as Gary Patterson's team is listed as a -3000 moneyline favorite to retain its title.
TCU Horned Frogs (-3000): TCU finished the 2009 regular season with a perfect 12-0 record and, with the exception of a 20-17
victory at Air Force, it experienced hardly any resistance from Mountain West foes. The Horned Frogs destroyed both Utah and BYU, beating the two schools by an average of 29 points. Based upon last season's results, why wouldn't TCU be a monsterous favorite? Especially considering the fact that Patterson has 16 starters and 54 lettermen back on campus. Utah, BYU, and Air Force are all good teams, but the Mountain West is TCU's to lose.
Utah Utes (+1000): The Utes finished third in the Mountain West last season with a 6-2 record, losing only to TCU and BYU. Both Utah and BYU return 12 starters from last year's squads; however, the Cougars lose their starting quarterback (Max Hall), leading rusher (Harvey Unga), and leading receiver (Dennis Pita). Those departures probably give the second place advantage to Utah, which retains almost all of its starters along the offensive and defensive lines. The Utes also meet the Cougars in Salt Lake this year. Utah beat BYU 48-24 the last time to two teams squared off at Rice-Eccles Stadium (2008).
